Story.
From the earliest days of our childhood, SV and I were captivated by the vibrant world of Hmong embroidery, textiles, and patterns. SV, with his nimble fingers and boundless curiosity, began sewing at a tender age, crafting stuffed animals with meticulous care. JV, forever enchanted by the arts, spent countless hours drawing and painting, my imagination running wild with colors and shapes. These early experiences were more than just hobbies—they were the seeds of our shared destiny.
As we entered our teenage years, SV's passion for fashion blossomed as he began designing garments for his sister, each piece more refined than the last. Meanwhile, I, influenced by the ever-evolving fashion industry, started creating simple designs that spoke volumes. Fashion was not just an interest; it was the fabric of our lives, interwoven with our dreams and aspirations.
Fate conspired to bring us together, and when it did, it felt like destiny. We were invited to showcase our first fashion show, JvSv Autumn/Winter 2012/13. The journey was challenging; our garments were crafted from the limited materials we could afford, and the hair and makeup were rudimentary. Despite the obstacles, we had a singular vision: to create a cohesive fashion line using our traditional colors of blue and black, incorporating metallic feathers to symbolize both heaviness and lightness. The show was rough, but our determination shone through.
The following year, we presented JvSv Spring/Summer 2013 collections. This collection pushed our creative limits, focusing on draping and introducing new fabrics. We aimed to capture the flow of the material and the silhouette of a woman, creating designs that would embody her essence. The experience was transformative, teaching us the power of perseverance and innovation.
In 2014, we planned a fashion line called "Transparence," but it was canceled. The disappointment was overwhelming, yet it marked a pivotal moment for us. We chose to work with private clients and focus on our education. As the years went by, our sewing machines began to collect dust, but our pencils and paper never did. We continued to sketch and create, transitioning into backend designers. Our ideas transformed on paper and came to life through the hands of talented seamstresses.
As designers, we have learned to grow from every twist and turn of life. Each setback taught us resilience and determination. Our love for fashion has never wavered, from our childhood dreams to our present reality.
We decided to embark on a new journey, rekindling a passion buried deep in our hearts. We traveled the world, drawing inspiration from the rich cultures we encountered—from traditional garments to modern elegance, from beautiful accessories to jewelry and handbags. In doing so, we discovered our true purpose: to help the world grow through the power of fashion. We are committed to working with local artisans around the globe, creating masterpieces that celebrate diversity and craftsmanship.
Today, we present to you, JvSv: a brand that embodies elegance, resilience, and the beauty of cultural fusion. Our journey has been filled with challenges and triumphs, but through it all, we have remained true to our vision. We hope our story inspires you to pursue your passions, embrace your heritage, and believe in the transformative power of creativity.
JvSv is more than a brand; it’s a testament to the enduring spirit of those who dare to dream and persevere. Join us as we continue to walk this path, celebrating the elegance of life and the artistry that connects us all.
